I love reading and drawing with kids.
Reading my stories, then giving kids drawing prompts and seeing their imaginations take off is my favorite part of doing an author visit. When a classroom buzzes with creative engagement, then it’s mission accomplished.
Kids ask some interesting questions, like: “How do you spend so much time writing and drawing when you could be doing something else?” or “My backpack is orange.” (Is that a question?)
And if you are over five, I’m also available—I talk to grownups, too!
I’d love to visit your school, bookstore, library or conference.
Now Readings and Painting Workshops
We have fun experimenting with unconventional art materials. Participants make bold marks with big brushes, chopsticks and bamboo skewers dipped in sumi ink; and make soft, smeary marks with vine charcoal. Materials are provided. For all ages.
